CSPH 336 Large Format Photography

Photographing with a large format camera is the ultimate experience in analogue photography. This is the preferred camera of choice by many photographers who wish to work in silver-based imagery. The class will cover perspective control, the use of bellows extension when photographing close up, and determining exposure from your hand-held light meter. You will also be shown how to load and process sheet film, and make contacts of your negatives. Students will be assigned their own 4 x 5” view camera, tripod, film holders, and light meter for the duration of the course. Prior darkroom experience is an advantage. Please note a list of materials and supplies to be purchased will be handed out in advance of the class. MICA will provide the equipment and chemicals for processing.
