PR 340.01 History of Paper Structure

This course is open to students who are focusing on book arts as a concentration and are interested in the history, conservation and artistic applications of paper, including the historic and contemporary practice of hand papermaking. Understanding plant structure and chemistry is essential in understanding the development of paper historically. The primary focus of this course is the technical application and production of pulp fiber for paper as well as production of handmade paper for various applications.
